INFO Camptosaurus (Marsh,1885)  = Brachyrophus (Cope,1878) Cumnoria (Seeley,1888) Symphyrophus (Cope,1878) Camptosaurus > C.dispar (Marsh,1879) = Camptonotus dispar (Marsh,1879) > Brachyrophus altarkansanus (Cope,1878) Symphyrophus musculosus (Cope,1878) Camptosaurus medius (Marsh,1894) Camptosaurus nanus (Marsh,1894) Camptosaurus browni (Gilmore,1909) Camptosaurus prestwichii (Hulke,1880) = Iguanodon prestwichii (Hulke,1880) Camptosaurus > ?C.depressus (Gilmore,1909)

Probably named for the remarkable "shortness of the pit-like facet for the attachment of the neuropophysis" on the dorsal vertebrae.  Brachyrophus was originally considered a sauropod. Its name predates that of Camptosaurus, making it technically the senior synonym.
