Age: Late Permian, 255 million years ago The fauna of the terrestrial tetrapods on the east coast of the East European Sea was more diverse than that on the western coast. The large shallow basins were inhabited by diverse and numerous fish-eating labyrinthodonts. Some of them, like broad-headed Melosaurus, waited for their prey at the bottom, while the others, like long-snouted Platyoposaurus, actively hunted for swimming fishes. |
