Alxasaurus > Alxasaurus
elesitaiensis.
Material: type IVPP 88402 (smaller individual) nearly
complete skeleton. Referred material: IVPP 88402 (smaller
individual) partial skeleton about 2/3 the size at the type IVPP
88501 foot material IVPP 88510 additional material (not examined)
Bidepal. The general skeletal reconstruction resembles a moderarely
large prosauropod with long arms and a short tail. Detailed
morphology show close ancestry to the Therizinisauridae (for which
Segnosaurus
is a junior synonym). There are more teeth (40) in the dentary then
there are in kown therizionosaurids who are distinguisable from
Alxasaurids in lacking teeth at the front of the mouth.
