Amphicoelias
> A.altus
(Cope,1877)
>> A. fragillimus (Cope,1878).
McIntosh sees "no reason not to consider A. fragillimus a
very large individual of A. altus". (1998, Modern Geology
23:481-506).
An old story states that Amphicoelias fragillium may
have been the largest dinosaur. The story speaks of a huge vertebra
2.4 meters (7.8 ft) tall that crumbled to dust shortly after
excavation. Only a drawing remaind. |
