"Dispute on the Beach"
On a Brazilian
coast beach, a big coelacanth (Mawsonia gigas) dies. A spinosaurid,
Angaturama limai (?=Irritator challengeri), finds the carcass and takes advantage
of the chance for a gratuitous meal. Attracted by smell of the dead fish,
a Spinosaurus sp. is
determined to steal the meal. The spino's giant size is intimidating to
the Angaturama, and it loses no time in running away.
There is no evidence of the interaction between Angaturama and Spinosaurus. The body reconstruction of Angaturama (including the sail) is based on the
close relation to Spinosaurus. Image Copyright © 2005 Felipe A. Elias. All Rights
