Apatosaurus was named by the American palaeontologist Othniel C. Marsh in 1877. Apatosaurus has also been called Brontosaurus by Marsh in 1879, but Apatosaurus was the first given name. It means "deceptive lizard".
This big and heavy dinosaur had a long neck, a long tail and a long skull.
