BEK-el-SPIEN-aks (Beckles + "spinax" by analogy with Altispinax von Huene) (m)
to honor Samuel Husband Beckles (--1890), who found the original specimen;
proposed of high-spined "Megalosaurus" vertebrae later named Altispinax by von Huene,
but no longer included under von Huene's genus name.
