Brachiosaurus altithorax(arm bone)
Photo by Mike Brett-Surman Catalog number: USNM 21903 This upper arm bone (right humerus) of Brachiosaurus altithorax was placed on exhibit in 1958. It is situated in the walkway so visitors can touch it and appreciate its enormous size. Directly behind this bone is an illustration of the full-sized animal, showing the location of the right humerus. In the background, the legs of Diplodocus, the largest fully mounted specimen in the Hall, provide a comparison for the difference in size between these two sauropods. | |||||||||||||||
