Byron Jaffe's Lizard
Byronosaurus jaffei
(Norell, Makovicky, and Clark, 2000)
Like its North American reletive, Troodon
formosus, Byronosaurus jaffei is a predator of small
animals. B. jaffei large, forward-facing eyes give this
troodont a sterioscopic veiw of its world, enabeling it to tell exactly how
far away a prey animal is from its face. Unlike other troodonts,
however, B. jaffei has a large and sensetive nose (Headden) and so
can hunt effectively during the night as well as the day.
Thanks to Jeff Hecht for helping with the translation of the
name of Byronosaurus jaffei, Jaime A. Headden, for telling me some
miscelanious facts about the beast, and Jordan Mallon, for supplying the
second illustration.
