CLASSIFICATION Saurischia Theropoda Tetanurae Coelurosauria NOMINA DUBIA
DIET Carnivore
FOSSILSITE Wealden Beds (Wealden shales), Isle of Wight, England
FALL UNDER
LENGTH 2 meter
INFO The type material consists of 9 vertebrae ( 2 dorsals, 5 sacrals, and 2 caudals) , the fused distal portions of both pubes, and an angual phalanx.  It should be noted that Seeley (1887) questioned the reference of the two sacral vertebrae to this taxon. Calamospondylus oweni Fox,1866, is clearly a senior objective synonym of Poikilopleuron pusillus Owen,1876, and Aristosuchus pusillus (Owen,1876)

Despite the poor original description of Calamospondylus oweni by Fox, this is clearly the type species of this material and relegates Aristosuchus pusillus and Poekilopleuron pusillus- names that have occurred in the recent literature on a number of occasions- into synonymy. Additional genera and species have also become entangled with this group of taxonomic names.
