This is the oldest known carnosaur (and the oldest known tetanuran, for that matter). Also the only theropod known from Antarctica, and the first dinosaur from there to be described. It had an unusual crest projecting upwards from between its eyes. Before formally published, this animal was referred to in literature as Elvisaurus, named for its pompadour-like crest. |
